In occasion of this year’s World Wildlife Day, RAP released an Information Brief on “The wildlife-livelihoods-health nexus: challenges and priorities in Asia and the Pacific”.

This brief was developed together with numerous partners and coordinated by FAO, in close collaboration with RAP’s Animal Health and Production Team, the Forestry Division and the Sustainable Wildlife Management Programme.

The Sustainable Wildlife Management Programme (SWM Programme) has been developing and testing innovative models to address wild meat and food security issues including and mainstreaming the One Health approach. Currently implemented in 15 OACPS countries, the SWM Programme has been extended to Asia since August 2023.

World Wildlife Day is the United Nations most important day to celebrate and raise awareness about the world’s wild animals and plants. This year’s theme “Connecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation” highlights how digital conservation technologies and services can drive wildlife conservation, sustainable and legal wildlife trade and human-wildlife coexistence, now and for future generations in an increasingly connected world.

We are glad to announce the release of the documentary "À la vie, A la Terre : Sénégal, terre de sel".

This documentary produced by the new environmental documentary magazine launched by TV5MONDE, ‘’À la vie, À la Terre’’, features the work of the RESOURCE Project in Senegal aimed at supporting the development of a water lily industry to restore aquatic ecosystems and promote agricultural practices that respect both the environment and biodiversity.

To celebrate this year’s World Wetlands Day, we are glad to launch our latest 3D virtual photographic exhibition update with a room exclusively dedicated to the RESSOURCE Project’s work in the wetlands of the Senegal River delta. 

Wetlands are critically important ecosystems that contribute to biodiversity, climate mitigation and adaptation, freshwater availability, world economies and more. The theme for 2024 is ''Wetlands and human wellbeing'', which recognizes wetlands as critical to people and nature, underscoring the intrinsic value of wetland ecosystems and their benefits and services, including contributions to sustainable development and human wellbeing.

The RESSOURCE Project, has been working in Senegal, Mali, Chad, Sudan and Egypt to improve the sustainable use of the ecosystem services and the resources that the Sahelian wetlands provide, in particular waterbirds, for the many rural communities that depend on them.

À l’occasion de la Journée mondiale des zones humides nous sommes heureux de vous présenter notre dernière exposition photographique virtuelle en 3D avec une salle exclusivement dédiée au travail du Projet RESSOURCE dans les zones humides du delta du fleuve Sénégal.

Les zones humides sont des écosystèmes d'importance critique qui contribuent à la biodiversité, à l'atténuation du changement climatique et à l'adaptation à celui-ci, à la disponibilité de l'eau douce, aux économies mondiales et à bien d'autres choses encore. Le thème de 2024 est «Zones humides et bien-être humain», qui reconnaît que les zones humides sont essentielles pour l'homme et la nature, soulignant la valeur intrinsèque des écosystèmes des zones humides et leurs avantages et services, y compris les contributions au développement durable et au bien-être humain.

Jusq'à présent, le travaille du Projet RESSOURCE au Sénégal, au Mali, au Tchad, au Soudan et en Égypte a contribué  à améliorer l'utilisation durable des services écosystémiques et des ressources que les zones humides du Sahel fournissent, en particulier les oiseaux d'eau, pour les nombreuses communautés rurales qui en dépendent.
